The Story Behind the Passion.
It all started on the back of his dad’s bike. As you often see, that childhood memory grew into a passion Arjan simply can’t live without. Today, motorcycling is an essential part of his life. Arjan is 32 years old, lives near Hoorn, and recently became a father to a beautiful daughter. Besides his work, which also involves a lot of riding, he’s a talented photo and video maker. He perfectly combines these two passions on his Instagram account: Bax_Drivings. (Instagram: @bax_drivings)

The Dream Machine
Right now, his bike is a true dream machine: a BMW GS1250 Triple Black. Arjan first fell in love with the sound and the looks of the bike. He finds it to be the ideal machine since he loves to ride on all surfaces, really good offroad and perfect for long distances too. Multi-day trips on the bike are a regular thing for him. While he’s had a Yamaha XT in the past, a much lighter bike for offroading, he now prefers the BMW. He sold the Yamaha because there was too much wrong with it. Sure… the BMW is heavier, but it gives you more power, and once you learn to ride it, you can go a very long way. Maybe it’s that extra challenge that he finds so awesome! Taking the big bike for a trip many would not dare!

Tinkering and The Crew
Arjan also loves tinkering with his own bike. He finds modifying and adjusting things to be a lot of fun, and there’s plenty of customization on his machine. He does this regularly, not just for himself but also together with his friends like Remco (@bucephalus_adv). He also rides with Peet (@trophy_peet), a buddy he knows from Instagram and who shares his interest in both motorcycles and social media. These are the guys he’s also often found with on the dirt. In the Hoorn area, there aren’t many places to ride offroad, so they have to seek them out, like the spots near Amsterdam or a section of the TET route that runs through the Netherlands.

But the real stories are found abroad. His eyes light up when he talks about a trip to the French Pyrenees. That’s a whole different ballgame and so incredible! Whether it’s a short ride or a multi-day tour, he’s always looking for the next adventure.

The Right Gear for the Job
For Arjan, safety is just as important as the ride itself. He always rides with protective gear, both Onroad and offroad. He has different clothing sets for different rides and he loves using the gear from Rusty Stitches. He has our Kane Jacket and pants and also loves to use our new Merino base layer line. It’s all about having the right gear for the right job, whether you’re riding onroad or tearing up the track offroad!
